Is a donation fund drive compatible with establishing compassionate billing? Yes. Compassionate billing, if established, will help us maintain existing service levels. Donations help us grow. Many EMS organizations across Virginia and the US do both. — Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad (VBRescue) (@kvrs.org) November 30, 2024 at 11:27 AM Compassionate billing + Donations = Maintenance… Continue reading Funding algebra

We’re fast-track purchasing 2 new ambulances
We're emergently procuring 2 factory standard ambulances thanks to Va Beach City Council. They'll arrive sooner than the 4 custom-spec ones we already have on order. It's been a challenge nationwide to get new ambulances ever since COVID. Current fleet is requiring more & more maintenance. — Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad (VBRescue) (@kvrs.org) November 29,… Continue reading We’re fast-track purchasing 2 new ambulances
We support compassionate billing
We support (and were one of the original champions of) establishing "compassionate billing" for Virginia Beach's EMS system. The goal is to collect money already available from insurance plans to support our operations. Expenses are skyrocketing. We must pursue this additional source of revenue. — Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad (VBRescue) (@kvrs.org) November 29, 2024 at… Continue reading We support compassionate billing

Hurricane Matthew – update
Thanks to emergency grants from the state and the city, we’ve been able to place orders for two brand new ambulances to replace those destroyed by Hurricane Matthew!
2016 demand
KVRS responded to more than 25 calls per day (transporting more than 17 patients per day) in 2016, average.
Hurricane Matthew
Hurricane Matthew delivered disastrous flooding across the city, and as we worked to help people suffering illnesses and injuries, two of our ambulances sustained flooding that was bad enough that the vehicles were declared total losses. This represents an overnight loss of one-third of our fleet.
