Channel plan for "CT" radios By "CT radios", we mean the Motorola MaxTrac transceivers assigned by the city to ALS providers for use in their privately-owned vehicles (POVs).  Minor variations of this channel plan exist in the field, especially with respect to the talk-around channel.
FAILSOFT assignments Ever wonder what it means when our radios start to beep softly every ten seconds, and the word "FAILSOFT" appears in the displays?  It means that the 800 system's Central Controller (computer) has crashed, and the multitude of "virtual" channels that we all know and love get squeezed into twenty inglorious conventionally-repeated channels.  This chart shows how the virtual channels (subfleets and talk-groups) get clumped together during FAILSOFT operations.  (The good news is that fire and EMS radios retain much of their normal functionality.)
