Title:

Standby Configuration of Hydraulic Tools on the Crash Truck

Supercedes:

Policy Statement 94-05-08-01

It shall be the policy of the Kempsville Rescue Squad that rescue systems on the crash truck shall be kept in a standby configuration that provides quick and reliable utilization of the tools (1) that are most commonly used in the course of vehicle extrications, and (2) that have the greatest displacement capacity.

To this end, the following arrangement is the approved standby configuration for the hydraulic rescue tools:

1. The Jaws shall be connected directly to reel #1 and electric pump #1.
2. The O-cutter shall be connected directly to reel #2 and electric pump #2.
3. The Combination Tool shall be connected directly to reel #3 and electric pump #3.
4. Other hydraulic rescue tools should initially be left free.
