Roy P. Williamson Jr.

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Roy Pritchard Williamson Jr., 84, of the 5600 block of Elgin Road, went to be with his Lord on Jan. 3, 2004.

He was a member of Community United Methodist Church, a life member of Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad where he served as a cardiac technician for 10 years and a member of Avery's Mill Hunt Club.  Roy was a merchant marine before serving his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.  He retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard as a designer after 31 years.

He is survived by three daughters, Sherril Overton of Virginia Beach, Vickie Spitzer and her husband Ben of Chesapeake and Ona Lea Freeman and her husband Andy of Franklin, Ky.; two brothers, William "Buck" Nathaniel Williamson and Marion "Mooney" Hunter Williamson; four grandchildren, S. Leigh-Ann Wynn and her husband Brandon, Shaana Kennedy and her husband Matt, Casey Lea Freeman, and Madison Freeman; and three great-grandchildren, Colten J. Wynn, Savanah Leigh Wynn and Bailey Marie Kennedy.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel.  Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
